Christy Chaney, who has served in various roles at D2 since the company began, is Director of Digital Marketing and Co-Director of Wow and Events.
Christy graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree in studio art. She worked for 18 years as a fifth generation funeral director, serving as Vice President and Director of Signature Services, as she helped families looking for unique personalized services celebrating the stories of their lifetime. She implemented the company’s social media plan and created multiple marketing strategies, winning a regional Emmy for a commercial.
She is also the former owner of Studio Slant, the premier gift store in Owensboro with 10,000 Instagram followers and 8,000 Facebook followers. She also started the EastBridge Arts and Music Festival, which grew from 25 artists the first year to more than 100 artists and 30,000 visitors five years later.
In 2018, she co-founded Owensboro Times, one of the first all-digital, hyper-local daily news sources. In six years, more than 25 million people from all over the world have visited the website and app to read news, features and sports about Owensboro. With 50,000 Facebook followers, 8,000 Instagram followers, 5,000 Twitter followers, and 20,000 subscribers, OT’s award-winning team continues to increase their digital footprint, led by Christy.
Christy also serves as D2’s Director of WOW, implementing touch point strategies including extraordinary gifting, branding, and event coordination, all of which create a high level of personalization for prospects and clients.
